Shannon Tompkins is a local theatre director, choreographer and performer in Syracuse, New York who has been busily writing epic fantasy in between memorizing lines and creating dance routines for dozens of years. She writes the way other people exercise – in private, where no one can see. Suddenly Shannon found herself with a finished book she had never allowed anyone to read before! What to do… Publish! As a young adult, Shannon gulped down Stephen King novels while pouring over Tolkien again and again and feels heavily influenced by both. (Not that she would ever compare herself to either.) Ms. Tompkins holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Services. When she is not at her day job, she plays the part of Artistic Director for a small theater troupe of neurodiverse actors whom she adores! She continues to work in the local theatre community. And in her meager amount of spare time she will be working on book three!

In Tearlach, elves and dwarves and a mischievous imp interact with humans–and everyone has a pretty heavy agenda. Tompkins clearly knows how to create strong and believable characters, and she writes action scenes that keep you turning the pages. A great first novel!”
